Philip's Fast by Father Michael O'Loughlin
November 16, 2020

Philip's Fast begins today. This 40-day fast in preparation for Christmas, like the others (The Great Fast etc.), involves prayer (our communication with God takes on a tone of anticipation), fasting (denying ourselves certain earthly goods so that we are yearning for Christ’s coming with our body as much as we are with our mind and spirit) and almsgiving (involving the wider community, especially the needy, in our preparations). Learn more how to best prepare for Christmas during Philip's fast - read Fr. O'Loughlin's article here.

June 14, 2021

We welcome our seminarian for the summer, Thomas Donlin. He recently completed his first year of Theology at Saints Cyril and Methodius Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Seminarian Thomas will be learning all he can from our pastor, Fr. Stephen, during his time with us. We wish him a wonderful stay and our constant prayers for vocations to lives dedicated to the Church.

Visit from Fr. Juraj
July 11, 2021

We were pleased to have a short visit from Fr. Juraj. He was the concelebrating priest for the Sunday Divine Liturgy, as well as a concelebrating priest for the Funeral Mass (Liturgy) of Deacon Don - Deacon Greg's father. Fr Juraj is the Chaplain and Director of Student Life at the Internal Theological Institute (ITI) in Trumau, Austria. He was visiting with his wife and two kids. We look forward to their next visit to the parish. May God Grant Them Many Years!

MOSAIC OF CHRIST THE TEACHER (PANTOCRATOR).

In the ancient world, kings, emperors, judges and teachers would sit as they exercised their duties. The Scriptures, in general, see Christ as the promised successor of King David seated on his throne, and specifically, the book of Revelation sees Him and the Father as occupying thrones in heaven.

This dazzling mosaic, made of thousands of pieces of miniature glass tessera, depicts Christ in His glory blessings with His right hand, while holding an ornate Gospel Book in His left. His Holy Gospel contains His words of eternal life that he bequeaths to his Faithful with the instruction, “Go therefore into all nations baptizing them, in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” We have been saved for a purpose: to be collaborators with our Lord Christ in the salvation of the world.
